Gaim
Gaim 3 is a universal chat client can connect to many different chat networks at once. It is built on libpurple 3 which means it can connect to any chat networks that libpurple 3 can connect to.
Status
Gaim 3 is currently very early in development but uses GTK 4 and is planned to run on Linux, macOS, and Windows.
There are no releases at this time, but keep an eye on our Forums for more frequent updates.
Why?
As Pidgin 3’s user interface started to change more and more it became apparent that many people still liked the more direct message focused user interface of Pidgin 2 and Gaim before it. Because of that, it was decided that an additional GTK4 user interface would be created.
The name Gaim was chosen to honor our history and because the trademark that caused the original name change has expired.
